Frequently Asked Questions about the Dublin Fashion Swap Shop Event on May 21

We’re delighted with the response to all our promotion of the Dublin Fashion Swap Shop Event.

So many women are interested in sorting out their wardrobes and accessories and swapping them for new treasures.

There are a few questions we keep getting asked so here’s a few answers … please feel free to ask us any questions.

I’d love to come along but don’t have anything to swap … how do I get some treasures?

You can buy vouchers for 2.50 and go look on the racks for some lovely clothes, bags, shoes or jewellry

Once I’ve paid my 10 euro entry fee do I have to pay any more if I go out and want to come back in again?

No. When you pay your entry fee we also give you a free voucher [because we think you’re worth it] and a stamp on your wrist. You can then come and go all day until we close at 7pm.

I can’t come in when the Swap Shop starts at 1pm … will I miss out on the best stuff?

No way. We will be bringing treasures out every hour so feel free to come in after 1pm.

Will you only be taking designer clothes?

No. We welcome anyone with clothes in good condition … they don’t have to be designer.

How does the voucher system work?

You bring in clothes … we give you a voucher per item up to 15 items [you can bring more if you want but we’ll only be giving 15 vouchers max] … you go pick some treasures and swap it for an item per voucher. 15 clothes = 15 vouchers = 15 new items you can choose.

Will you be taking childrens or mens clothing or underwear?

No. This is a womens event [although we are planning to have a mens swap shop event attached to our October Swap Shop] and we welcome clothes and acccessories in clean and good condition. We’ll only accept underwear that is new and still has tags.

Will there be changing rooms?

Yes. We are creating a space where women can try on clothes and check themselves out in the mirrors. There is also a Ladies bathroom where you can slip in and try your treasures on.

Can I buy a drink while I’m wandering the racks?

We’re not sure whether the bar in the room will be open but it’s only a 20 second walk to the other bar where you’ll be welcome to buy a drink and bring it back into the room.

Will there be other things happening at the event?

Heaps of stuff is happening.

We plan to have a Refashioning Parade at 3 pm; a Magic Makeup Makeover at 4pm; Live Music; stalls with hand made goods for sale by local women; a Swedish natural cosmetics & skincare company will be offering free mini facials and hand treatments; we may have a beautician offering reduced rate eyebrow waxes; every hour there will be prizes of bottles of prosecco, handmade soaps, cosmetics and jewellry.

I want to just pop in anytime on the Saturday without standing in line and having to sort my clothes. Will I be able to drop my clothes off before May 21?

We’re working on that one. We hope to be able to have a space either in our home or at the Racecourse Inn on Friday 2o. You can then come on in anytime on the Saturday. Like us on Facebook and keep up to date with developments.

I can’t come along but would like to donate some clothes and accessories to the event. Can I do this?

We’d be delighted to accept your treasures and if you live in Baldoyle or surrounding areas then let us know and we’ll come pick them up. You can also drop them in on the Friday.

Please add any other questions to the comment section below.

And please share this link with friends and family and on your FB Wall. The more women that come along … the more treasures we’ll have available.

You can also download posters, postcards and a press release and share it with people … pop them in shops, your local hairdresser, creche, library and anywhere else you can think of.

  1. I just had a very good question sent to me.

    Hi ,
Really looking forward to this event , so can I just make sure I understand the process , do I get a voucher worth 2.50euro for each item of clothing I bring ? Then who decides sale price’s for the clothes .

    Hi D

Thanks for your question and I’ll clarify how it works:
    • if you have clothes and accessories then all you have to do is pay the entry fee and then go over to the table and get a token for each item you’ve brought [to a max of 15 items although you can bring more if you want to do a real clear out of the wardrobe]. E.g – if you bring in 8 Items then you get 8 Tokens.

    • you then wander the rails and accessories tables and choose whatever you want up to the amount of tokens you have – e.g 8

    • the 2.50 euro a token is only for women who haven’t got anything to bring but would like to get some treasures. They then use the token the same way – one token = one treasure

We’re not going to grade peoples stuff as that just gets waaaay too complicated. As long as the treasures are clean and of good quality then they are welcome.

Hope that answers your question. Please keep asking if I haven’t been clear.

Love to see you on the day. Do come over and say hi to me [Liz] or Pam. We’ll be wearing BIG brooches saying [Mad Organisers].

    Take care
    Liz
